Supplies to Bring
The Saturday session will
include hands-on training, including rescue practice through an outdoor
obstacle course.
- Participants should wear durable,
warm clothing and footwear.
- Gloves and knee pads are recommended.
- Bring a sack lunch or money to purchase
lunch from the restaurant at Glenwood Caverns. There will not be time
to go down the tram to eat at other locations.
The Sunday mock rescue will require standard
horizontal caving equipment. April weather in Glenwood may range from freezing,
snowy winter conditions to sunny, balmy Rocky Mountain spring days. Please
be prepared for whatever conditions may occur. Each participant must have
the following:
- A helmet with a mounted light
- Two back-up sources of light
- Warm clothing - The cave is a constant
52 degrees F with 99% humidity
- Sturdy ankle-high lace up leather
boots or hiking shoes with slip resistant/lug soles
- Gloves
- Bottled Water
- Sack lunch
Additional items that are not required,
but highly recommended:
- Flexible knee and elbow pads.
- A small pack to carry gear.
- A hat or fleece vest - Rescue operations
may include may include times of heavy exertion interspersed amongst
periods of sitting and waiting, a hat or fleece vest will make the latter
much more comfortable.
Mark all of your equipment with your name or other personal
identification mark.
