Rescue Gear

The CCRN has rescue gear located at Cave of the Winds in Maintou Springs, Colorado. The CCRN also maintains four underground rescue caches - three in Groaning Cave and one in Feels Like I'm Fixing To Die Cave.

In addition to resources provided by the CCRN, all cavers should carry a small first-aid kit. Here is list of recommended items to include in your pack:

PERSONAL 1ST AID KIT FOR CAVERS

Contents:

• Pelican 1020 Series Micro Case (waterproof plastic container)
• 1 3" X 1.5" Rolled Ace Bandage
• 1 3" X 1.5" Rolled Kurlex Dressing
• 3 Small Moleskin Pads
• 2 Tea Candles
• 1 Mini Lighter
• 1 Pair compact Mini Snip Scissors
• 1 Pencil (4" long w/ eraser)
• 1 Pair Disposable Latex Gloves
• 2 3" X 3" Gauze Sponges (sterilized dressing pads)
• 1 Small Plastic Container Pain Killers (Motrin, etc.)
• 3 3" X 5" Index Cards printed with the following info:

Additional emergency items to carry in cave pack:

• 1 Synthetic long Underwear Shirt (Polyproplylene, Capilene, etc.)
• 1 Small Closed Cell Foam Pad (10" X 8" X 1" or equivalent size)
• 1 Metallized Emergency Bag or 1 large Plastic Lawn/Grass Bag
